We have been approached by UPP in Chapéu Mangueira & Babilônia to participate in this project. What started as a kind request to donate 3 sprays ended as a revitalisation of 40 metres of the street.
We helped with the plaster finish of the wall. Then we organized the paint of basic background color. Then Luiz together with us spent some time buying material for the big day. The big day was marked for saturday, august 2nd. We were hoping and praying for the weather to help us and it did. We woke up to a great sunny day.
Soon after 9am graffiti artists from all around Rio de Janeiro metropolitan area started to apear. We had friends coming from Campo Grande, Bangu, Jardim América , Botafogo, Copacabana, Niterói, Rocinha. The big thank you goes to Luiz and his crew, Wark da Rocinha, Miguel Fernandez, Vitor VGS, Pandro, Rodrigo Eok, Daniel Frickmann, Tis FzoCrew, and Jean Poul Livrement.
Without you this would not be possible. THANK YOU!!!

We always believed that Lisetonga is a great hostel. We also always believed that our guests will experience the same. That they will feel it, live it, and say it.
In September 2012 we ranked #3 of 145 hostels in Rio. Trip advisor calls it “specialized hotels”. We were very proud about it. Then almost one year later , in July 2013 we ranked again #3. Now, in April 2014 we are ranked #3 still. What is the difference? That this time it is 339 properties, i.e. once again almost one hundred more. That way the 3rd place is even bigger achievement.
We, Lisetonga staff, want to thank you, to our guests for living the Lisetonga experience with us day and night after day and night, for being great guests and for making us a great hostel. Thank you.
Smile. It’s a nice day.
Rainforest City Day 1 : Rio De Janeiro : Sat 30th Nov
I have a bottle of sugary-sweet Itaipava Malzbier (presumably some sort of Germans make that, though at 4.2% you’d wonder) and Sarah is nursing a tin of Skol (a more respectably 4.7% ABV). It’s emptying down around us, poor exhausted little hallions, sitting in a hammock and watching life happen around our hostel. We’re in a small establishment called Lisetonga. We’re in Rio.

Have another glass – What are the chances?
While we’re travelling Meg and I tell people we’re from Toronto. It’s just easier. Nobody knows Stoney Creek or Ancaster, so Toronto it is.
We arrive at Lisetonga, an amazing hostel in the Leme neighbourhood in Rio, and a day later we got some new roommates.
